The debut of the first All-Ukrainian youth session jazz band at the anniversary XXV international jazz festival VINNYTSIA JAZZFEST-2021 was brilliant!

Beautiful, talented, persistent, interesting, each individually and all together! Together with their artistic director and conductor Yevhen Popel and star mentors: Ray Brown Jr. (USA), Robert Anchypolovsky (Israel), Oleksiy Petukhov (Ukraine) and Oksana Slavna (Ukraine) – they did the impossible!

Previously not knowing each other, living thousands of kilometers away in different regions of Ukraine – from the West to the East – the entire program of the concert during “Jazz No School” was created online and had only three days to play it live.

They did a great job with the difficult task!

They proved that they are the jazz hope of Ukraine, which deserves to tour all over the world!

During the concert, everyone together and individually impressed with their virtuosity and playfulness and broke off a flurry of applause and the loudest shouts of “Bravo!” after each composition!

The first All-Ukrainian youth session jazz band after two rounds of open competitive selection of the “Jazz No School” project included the best jazz musicians under the age of 27 from Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Kherson, Kyiv, Lviv, Chernivtsi, Cherkasy, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi, Kryvyi Rіg, Severodonetsk, Pirogovichiv village, Tovtry, Mohyliv-Podilskyi and Vinnytsia.

In the “Jazz No School” artistic residency, the participants collaborated with famous professional jazz musicians of Ukraine, Israel and the USA for several months.

During the work of the “Jazz No School”, new approaches of Western musicians were demonstrated for the transfer of experience and skill, with the help of which a creative personality capable of creating an artistic product should be developed.

The first All-Ukrainian youth session jazz band is a powerful step towards the creation of a permanent platform for young jazz musicians, within the framework of which permanent musical residencies will take place with the participation of Ukrainian and world jazz stars.

The result of musical residencies is the preparation of exclusive jazz concert programs for participation in international festivals and tours in Ukraine and abroad.

For the anniversary festival VINNYTSIA JAZZFEST-2021 “JAZZ PORT”, young jazz musicians prepared a bright concert program “Teleportation”, which was a combination of the energy of jazz eras. This is the synergy of youth and jazz stars. It is in this interaction that a new jazz generation of Ukraine is born.

Thanks to the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Fund, we were able not only to unite different eras. We united Ukraine by gathering young jazz performers from all corners of the country, which in the future will definitely affect the formation of the jazz market and its integration into the world cultural space.
