The ensemble was founded in 1939. The first musical season was opened on May 9, 1939 with the performance of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.
Since 2007, the Symphony Orchestra of Dnipropetrovs’k Philharmonic named after L.B. Kogan has taken an active part in international festivals of classical music in Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Portugal.
Concerts were held in the best halls of these countries: in the amazing RTVe hall in the capital of Spain, Madrid, Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, unsurpassed Victory Hall in Geneva, in one of the best palaces in the world, which all musicians dream to get to – in the Berlin Philharmonic and others.
Over the years of the orchestra’s existence, such prominent conductors as N. Rakhlin, S. Feldman, G. Provatorov, G. Karapetyan have worked at the conductor’s console.
Such legendary performers as D.Oistrakh, E.Gilels, L.Kogan, V.Krainev played with the orchestra.
The boundless repertoire of the orchestra includes works by Beethoven, Schumann, Brahms, Strauss, Schoenberg, Bernstein, music of the Baroque, Classicism, Romanticism eras, music from modern Hollywood blockbusters and music from Ukrainian classics Lyatoshinsky, Stankovych, Skoryk – to music that is created literally today.
With its creative biography, the team constantly proves its high professionalism, contributing to the support of spiritual life both in Ukraine and abroad.
